A chairde! Parents, Guardians and friends!
This week we will be celebrating Irish language and culture as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge. We will be busy learning Irish songs and dances, playing games through Irish, reading and writing stories, listening to Irish music and promoting the Irish language throughout the school.
We would like to invite you to join in the fun this Friday 15th March.
We would be delighted if anyone would like to contribute baked goods for our Irish Breakfast morning. Some ideas of Irish foods include:
Soda bread or brown bread
Barmbrack or fruit bread
Spreads: blackberry jam, apple jelly or Irish butter.
During the month of February we enjoyed learning all about House and Homes..
As part of our celebration of Book Week and the children's love of reading the infant classes would like to invite you to come in for some shared reading time in your child's class.
You can bring books, stories or poems for reading with your child's class. Books in other languages are most welcome!
We hope to do this over 6 weeks starting next week on Friday, March 8th and every Friday until April 12th at 8:40am on those mornings.
If you can come on any of those dates please click on the survey link and select a suitable time.
We hope to welcome you into our class soon
This week we celebrated Heritage Week in PETNS. We took parts in lots of activities to do with the past, including visiting the mini museum and a visit from some of our grandparents. To end the week, Catherine from the Heritage Council brought us lots of old artifacts to explore! We really enjoyed trying to guess what the items were used for!
Our topic for October was Autumn and food. We learned lots about Autumn and enjoyed going on an Autumn Trail. We then sorted our leaves into a colour pictogram. In Aistaer, we printed an Autumn tree, made leaf people, leaf rubbings and played with squirrel and hedgehog puppets in our very own Autumn environment. We also loved playing in the cafe, made soup in the water tray and buns in the sand tray. We read the story 'The enormous turnip' and then acted it out. We then used the characters from the story and an "enormous" turnip to reenact the story!
Thanks to the mums and dads who came in on Wednesday for 'Maths for Fun.' We really enjoyed playing lots of maths games with you all!
